Live/work community is a key component in efforts towards sustainable development in Oakland's deindustrialized urban neighborhoods.

Oakland is a model for a rapidly approaching future in which community-driven sustainable development can flourish. We advocate the continued use and permitting of live/work facilities (especially in depressed urban areas) as centers where local art and sustainability efforts can succeed. Live/work community facilities are poised to become vital spaces in our city for collaborative production, public gatherings, events and performances.
